Trial Lessons
The ideal way to try out flying and find out if you have what it takes to be a pilot. Cabair have several options: TRIAL LESSONS (AEROPLANES) THE SINGLETON THE LAND AWAY DOUBLE You fly to another airfield, land and have a coffee with your instructor so you will have the opportunity to ask questions about all aspects of flying. A comprehensive pre-flight briefing and post-flight discussion complete this all inclusive lesson, designed to be ‘flying fun’ as well as counting towards your Private Pilot Licence. THE FLYING START On completion of The Flying Start, you will have logged 5 hours* towards the minimum 32 hours* flight time required for the issue of your National Private Pilot’s Licence. It also includes free Cabair membership and aerodrome fees as well as counting towards your Private Pilot Licence. TRIAL LESSONS (HELICOPTERS) 30-30 and 60-60 We offer two packages: Firstly, the “30/30” lesson which includes 30 minutes* ‘hands-on’ time plus 30 minutes pre-flight briefing during your one hour package. Secondly - and even better value - is the “60/60” lesson which includes 60 minutes* ‘hands-on’ time plus 60 minutes pre-flight briefing during this 2 hour package. Both of our introductory lessons offer ‘hands-on’ helicopter training and a sample of the challenging world of rotary wing flight. Although the flying controls look similar to those in an aeroplane, there’s a world of difference in the handling techniques necessary! HELI-START HELICOPTER COURSE You will cover and practice all of the early flight exercises in the training syllabus within your five, two hour booking sessions. Each 2 hour session normally includes one hour of flying and one hour of briefing. The cost is pre-paid and ‘all-inclusive’. Download the datasheet for these courses here. Once you have gained your Private Pilot’s Licence, there are a number of other qualifications and ratings you can achieve. The most significant achievement would be to obtain an instrument rating which would allow you to fly in all weathers - using the airways like a commercial pilot. If you intend to fly for a living, then you will need such a rating. However, for the private pilot who flies for leisure, these are relatively expensive and probably only a realistic goal if you have a necessity to fly from A to B, whatever the weather. If you do have this requirement, we shall of course be happy to train you! We are one of the major suppliers of new First Officers to airlines worldwide, so we have plenty of experience! We set out below a short summary of the various ratings and qualifications which you can gain at a Cabair Flying School. For further information, we suggest you pop along to your local School and talk to the Instructors and Ops staff. The most popular Ratings include: NIGHT RATING and the IMC (Instrument & Meteorological Conditions) To download the datasheet for more info, click here. Membership
You must be a current member of Cabair Flying Schools before you fly with us. Here are the membership types available: STANDARD MEMBERSHIP • Covers direct family members at no extra cost PLATINUM MEMBERSHIP The Platinum Membership is similar to the Standard Membership, but with significant cost savings and advantages.
